25강 (문법) 명사절 2 & (어휘) 유사의미 형용사/부사 1

오늘은 지난 시간에 이어 명사절에 대해서 공부했습니다. 명사절 접속사 중 의문사(의문대명사, 의문형용사, 의문부사)와 복합관계대명사(who(m)ever, whatever, whichever)와 what과 that의 구별에 대해서 배웠고, 어휘는 유사의미 형용사/부사 첫 시간으로 attached : connected, early : previous, extensive : spacious, outstanding : evident 등을 공부했습니다.

[문법]

4 명사절 접속사 3 : 의문사

의문 대명사 who, what, which, whose → 불완전, + to 부정사

의문 형용사 what, which, whose + 명사 → 불완전, N + to 부정사

의문 부사 when, where, why, how → 완전한 절, + to 부정사

* I don't know what, when, where 등 to eat. *단, why는 뒤에 to 부정사 X

I don't know what, which, whose cake to eat.

※ 의문 대명사 (who, what, which, whose) → '불완전' 주어, 목적어, 보어가 없는 불완전한 문장

What she mentioned was interesting. [목적어 역할]

I can't decide which is best. [주어 역할]

※ 의문 형용사 (what, which, whose) → 불완전, [의문형용사 + 명사]가 문장에서 주어, 목적어, 보어

I wasn't told whose plan it was. [보어]

What price you paid is irrelevant. [목적어]

※ 의문 부사 (when, where, why, how) → '완벽한 절'

I will notify you when the repairs will be finished.

Where you live should be indicated on the form.

※ 명사절 '의문사 + to 부정사'

→ 의문사 + 주어 + should + 동사

I can't choose what to read (= what I should read) first.

____ N + to 부정사 → '의문형용사'

I don't know (what, which, whose) car to buy.

5 who(m)ever, whatever, whichever

※ 복합관계대명사 = '대명사+관계대명사'의 성질. 선행사가 포함되어있다.

복합관계 대명사 / 불완전 → 명사절/부사절

whoever = Anyone who 누구든 간에

whomever = Anyone whom 누구든 간에

whatever = Anything that 무엇이든 간에

whichever = Anything that 어느 것이든 간에, Anyone who 어느 사람이든 간에

※ 복합관계대명사는 '대명사+접속사'의 역할

Whoever (= Anyone who) painted the picture is a terrific artist. 주어

Please take whatever (= anything that) you need. 목적어

[복합관계대명사의 명사절 VS 부사절]

1.명사절

Whoever answers the phone should be polite. 주어로 사용된 명사절

2.부사절

Whoever answers the phone, (they should be polite.) 주절의 의미를 보충해주는 부사절

복합관계대명사 → who[m]ever, whatever, whichever

복합관계형용사 → whatever, whichever [명사절, 부사절]

복합관계대명사 : Whatever you need, need의 목적어로 whatever

복합관계형용사 : Whatever car you need, car를 수식하는 형용사 역할

Whatever car you need V → 명사절 (주어)

Whatever car you need, S + V → 부사절

※ 복합관계대명사 다음에는 불완전한 문장이 온다.

Whoever files a complaint will be contracted by a service representative. 명사절 접속사 + 주어

※ 복합관계사를 쓸지 의문사를 쓸지는 문맥에 따라 결정한다. Who : 누가, Whoever : 누구든지 간에

(Who, Whoever) is chosen for the award will receive $1,000.

(Whoever, Who) will play that character hasn't been disclosed yet.

6 what과 that의 구별

※ what절은 only 명사절, always 불완전

It is easy to see what is best for the firm.

That은 명사절 / 형용사절 / 부사절 가능

1.명사절 [완전한 절]

We were told that there were no seats available.

2.형용사절 [불완전한 절]

Sophie gave me a suggestion that may help us.

3.부사절 [숙어 표현으로 사용, 완전한 절]

The cake was so delicious that I had a second piece.

※ what은 불완전, that은 완전

The professor wants to figure out (that, what) motivates students to learn.

(What, That) she had entered the wrong building was apparent.

[어휘]

attached : connected

attached 첨부된, 부가적으로 붙은

The attached itinerary may be subject to change.

사실 등이 외적으로 명백히 드러나 보일 때 사용한다.
