Chapter 17 부사절

이번 시간에는 부사절 접속사에 관해 공부했어요.

- 부사절 접속사

 접속사 S+V, S+V.

- 부사절은 수식어 거품자리에 와요.

 If you can't meet today, we can get together tomorrow.

 부사절: If you can't meet today

 주절: we can get together tomorrow.

- 부사절은 부사역할을 하고 관계절은 형용사 역할을 해요

 1) 부사절

 I started looking for a house, when I accepted the job in Berlin.

 2) 형용사절

 The Olton Hotel is a venue where we held the event.

- 부사절접속사 + S+ V -> 부사절 접속사 + ing/p.p

 1) 접속사 + ing

 When/While/After/Before S+V

  (1) 주어 생략 (2) 동사원형 -> ~ing(be동사는 being)

   When you make a speach => When making a speech

 2) 시간/조건/양보 접속사 + p.p

  시간 when/once

  조건 if/only if/unless           +        S + be + p.p, S+V

  양보 though/although

  (1) 주어 생략   (2) be동사-> being  (3) 접(being) + p.p -> 접 p.p

  The machine continually runs unless the machine is switched off.

   -> unless switched off.

  If the proposal is approved -> If approved

  Although it was required -> Although required

- 시간을 나타내는 부사절 접속사 

 until (접/접) ~ 할때까지

 before (접/전/부) ~하기 전

 as (접전부) ~ 할 때, ~함에 따라

 while(접접명동) ~ 하는 동안에

 since(접접전부) ~한 이후로

 after(접전) ~한 후에

 once(접부부) ~한 후에, 일단 ~하고 나면

 even as(접) 마침 ~ 할때

 by the time(접) ~할 때 즈음에

 as soon as(접) ~하자마자

- 시간을 나타내는 부사절 접속사 다음에는 미래를 나타내기 위해 현재를 사용해요.

 I need to complete my article before the editor leaves today.

 * 빈출표현 By the time/once S + 현재/현재완료, S + 미래/미래완료시제

- 조건을 나타내는 부사절 접속사

 if/assuming(that) (접) 만약 ~ 이라면

 unless (접) 만약 ~이 아니라면

 as long as (접) 오직 ~하는 경우에만

 provided(that)

 providing(that)

 on condition

 that

 only if

 in case(that) (접) ~의 경우에 *in case of(전)

 in the event (that) (접) ~를 대비해서 *in the event of(전)

- 조건을 나타내는 부사절 접속사 if/whether

 명사절일 경우 if는 주어나 목적어자리에 사용 불가, 타동사나 be동사 뒤에만 들어갈 수 있어요.

 명사절일땐 if/whether은 ~인지 아닌지 라는 뜻을 가져요.

 부사절일 때 if절은 만약 ~이라면 이라는 뜻이고 whether은 ~에 상관없이, 라는 뜻이에요.

- 양보를 나타내는 부사절 접속사

 접속사 although, though, even if, even though 비록 ~이지만

 전치사 despite, in spite of, with all, notwithstanding 

 * while/whereas ~인 반면에

- 이유, 목적, 결과의 부사절 접속사

 1) 이유 because, as, since, now that

     전치사 due to, owing to, because of, on account of

 2) 목적 so that, in order that

     전치사 for *so as to+동사원형 *in order to+동사원형

 3) 강조 so[부] ~that, such[형] ~that

- except that / but that -> ~을 제외하고는

- as if / as though / (just) as 마치 ~처럼

- given that(접) / considering (that) (접)   *considering (접전)

- 복합관계부사가 이끄는 부사절은 문장내에서 부사 역할을 해요

 복합관계 부사=완벽한 문장/부사절

 whenever 언제 ~하든 상관없이 = no matter when

 wherever 어디든 ~상관없이 = no matter where

 however 어떻게 ~할지라도 = no matter how

 ex) I saw someone I knew wherever(->at any place where) I went during the trade fair.

  Guests can help themselves to refreshments whenever(->no matter when) they wish.

   However(=> no matter how) carefully I plan my trips, there's always something I forget.

 * However 형/부 S+V, S+V의 형태로 사용해요. 부사 however은 그렇지만 이라는 뜻이고 문장은 연결할 수 없어요.

- 복합관계대명사도 부사절을 이끌 수 있어요

 whoever 누가 ~하더라도 = no matter who

 whatever 무엇이/무엇을 ~하더라도 = no matter what

 whichever 어느 것이/어느 것을 ~하더라도 = no matter which

 복합관계대명사 뒤에는 불완전한 문장이 오고, 부사절/명사절 둘 다 가능해요.

 부사절: Whoever(no matter who) is at the door ask them to come back later.

 명사절: Whatever you want to order is okay with us.

- 혼동되는 부사절 접속사와 전치사

 (1) ~하는 동안에(시간) while(접속사), during(전치사)

 (2) ~하자마자(시간) as soon as(접속사), on/upon ~ing(전치사)

 (3) ~임에도 불구하고(양보) though/although(접속사), despite/in spite of/notwithstanding(전치사)

 (4) 왜냐하면(이유) because/since/as/now that(접속사), due to/because of(전치사)

 (5) ~와 상관없이 whether(접속사), regardless of(전치사)

- 부사절 접속사는 절 앞에 전치사는 구 앞에 와요.

 The appointment was canceled because Mr.Stanley had an emergency.

 The appointment was canceled because of an unexpected emergency.

오늘 공부한 어휘들이에요.

- access (정보,자료) 접근 권한, 통로 (불가산 명사)

 have access to ~에 대한 접근 권한이 있다, ~로 이어지는 길이 있다

- approach (문제 등에의) 접근법, 출입로(가산명사)

- choice 선택권, 선택

 choice(형) 최고로 좋은

 choice wine 최고로 좋은 와인

 *quality 최고로 좋은 quality service 최고로 좋은 서비스

- option 선택권

 opt(동) 선택하다

 optional(형) 선택의

 optimal(형) 최적의

- preference 선호

  preferred 선호하는

  preferential 차별하는, 우대하는

- fare (교통) 요금

 taxi fares 택시 요금

- fee(조직, 기관 등에 내는) 요금

 admission fee 입장료

 membership fee 회비

 tuition fee 수업료

 contingency fee 승소 조건 수임료
