【전치사의 형태】

【전치사구】: 전치사+명사구=전치사구=전명구⇒ 수식어

ex)until further notice: 추후 공지가 있을 때까지

The man in the conference room is Mr. Adams.

The celebration finished at midnight.

【전치사 자리】

1)명사 앞

I bought the coffee maker in January.

2)대명사 앞

We recommended the best art school to him.

【시간 전치사】

1)at, on, in

‘임 in 년 ’

‘부처님 on 날’

‘5월 in 데’

‘10시 at 만나자!’

⇒ in년 on날 in월 at시

ex)In 2010, I met many people.

2)for, during+기간

① for: 숫자 전환 가능 기간 동안

ex)for three years, for a year

② during: 글자 기간 동안

ex)during my vacation, during the meeting

3)until, by+시점

① until~ : ~까지 꾸준히, 계속!

ex)study until midnight

② by~ : ~까지 한번! 끝! 순간적!

ex)submit by midnight

I will give you the answer by tomorrow.

【장소 전치사】

1)at, on, in

① at(장소): 특정 지점. 웬만하면

② on(표면): 표면 위에. 위에 올라가 봤다면

She put the groceries on the table.

on the floor

on the first floor

on the second floor

③ in(장소): 공간 안에. 들어갈 수 있다면

* at〉in

-at 장소 : 장소에

ex)at the building

-in 장소: 장소 안에

ex)in the building

※ ‘at’하면 안 되는 경우!

-in the city

-in the world

2)between, among

① between the two

There is a hose between the two trees.

② between A and B

③ among 복수명사(셋 이상)/불가산

There is a hose among several trees.

【방향 전치사】

1)to, toward

① to 대상: ~에게, ~로(대상이 확실)

② toward 대상: ~쪽으로 , ~을 향하여(그 대상의 방향)

John wrote a letter to his wife.(○)

John wrote a letter toward his wife.(×)

We walked to downtown.(○)

We walked toward downtown.(○)

2)across, through, along

① across: ~를 가로질러

② through: ~를 통하여

③ along: ~를 따라

I swam across/through/along the lake.

The car went through/along a tunnel.

Mike walked across/through/along the beach.

3)into, out of

Kathy ran (into/out of) her house.

He jumped (into/out of) his bed.

※ 추가 예문

① I ran (into, out of) Mr. Kim.

* run into 사람: 사람과 마주치다

② put A into B: A를 B안에 넣다

③ take A out of B: A를 B에서 꺼내다
