1. 명사절 접속사 3: 의문사

의문 대명사 의문형용사 의문 부사

-의문 대명사 [who/ whose/what/which]-> 불완전/ 주어, 목적어, 보어가 없는 불완전한 문장

What she mentioned was interesting. 목적어 역할

I can't decide which is best. 주어 역할

- 의문형용사 [what/ which /whose] -> 불완전

[의문형용사 + 명사] 가 문장에서 주어. 목적어, 보어

I wasn't told whose plan it was. 보어

What price you paid is irrelevant. 목적어

- 의문 부사 [ When/ where/ how/ why ] - 완벽한 절

I will notify you when the repairs will be finished.

Where you live should be indicated on the form.

- 명사절 '의문사 + to 부정사'

-> 의문사 + 주어 + should + 동사

I can't choose what to read [= what I should read ] first.

=> what 자리에 모든 의문사가 올 수 있다[why만 제외]

___ N + to 부정사 -> '의문형용사'

I don't know [what, which, whose] car to buy.

2. Who[m]ever, whatever, whichever

-복합관계대명사 = '대명사 + 관계대명사'의 성질.

선행사가 포함되어 있다.

복합관계대명사 불완전-> 명사절/ 부사절

whoever = anyone who 누구든 간에

whomever = anyone whom 주구든 간에

whatever = anything that 무엇이든 간에

whichever = anything that 어느 것이든 간에

= anyone who 어느 사람이든 간에

Whoever [=anyone who] painted the picture is a terrific artist. 주어

Please take whatever [=anything that] you need. 목적어

[복합 관계대명사의 명사절 vs 부사절]

1. 명사절

Whoever answers the phone should be polite.

2. 부사절

Whoever answers the phone, they should be polite.

[복합관계대명사 - who[m]ever, whatever, whichever]

[복합관계형용사 - whatever, whichever - 명사절, 부사절]

복합 관계대명사 : Whatever you need,

복합 관계형용사 : Whatever car you need,

Whatever car you need V - 명사절

Whatever car you need, S+ V - 부사절

- 복합관계대명사 다음에 불완전한 문장이 온다.

[ Whoever files a complaint ] will be contacted by a service representative.

- 명사절 접속사 + 주어

- 복합관계사를 쓸지 의문사를 쓸지는 문맥에 따라 결정한다.

Who: 누가, Whoever : 누구든지 간에

[Who, Whoever] is chosen for the award will receive $1.000.

[Whoever, Who] will play that character hasn't been disclosed yet.

3. what과 that의 구별

- what 절은 only 명사절, always 불완전

It is easy to see what is best for the firm.

- that은 명사절/ 형용사절/ 부사절 가능

1] 명사절 -완전한 절

We were told that there were no seats available.

2] 형용사 절 - 불완전한 절

Sophie gave me a suggestion that may help us.

3] 부사절 - 숙어 표현으로 사용, 완전한 절

The cake was so delicious that I had a second piece.

to 전치사

- attached file: 첨부 파일

- 문장의 맨 앞에 도치가 되어 나간다.

Attached 첨부/ Enclosed 동봉 / Included + 포함 동사 + 주어

-서로 대등한 두 개가 관계상으로 혹은 물리적으로 연결될 때

early 조기의, [시간상] 이른

outstanding 뛰어난, 눈에 띄는, 미결제된

-outstanding balance : overdue/ unpaid / delinguent

-사실 등이 외적으로 명백히 드러나 보일 때 사용
