-원급

 

1)as+형용사/부사+as: ~만큼 ~한

The kitten is as white as snow.

* 앞의 ‘as’를 지우고 형용사/부사 선택

Be as (quiet/quietly) as possible during the examination.

I walked down the stairs as (quiet/quietly) as I could.

 

2)부정: not as ~as/not so ~as

The new desktop computer is not as/so speedy as the previous one.

 

3)‘~만큼 많은/적은-’을 나타내는 원급 표현

[as+many/few/much/little+명사+as]

 

① as many/few+복수명사+as

I bought as many clothes as Sam did.

 

② as much/little+불가산 명사+as

Please provide as much evidence as possible.

 

4)‘~와 같은-’을 나타내는 원급 표현

[the same(+명사)+as]

5)원급 수식 부사: nearly(거의), almost(거의), just(꼭)

-비교급: 형용사/부사의 비교급+than

 

1)비교대상이 2개 일 때

This year’s bonus is larger than the last one was.

I drove more slowly than usual because of the weather.

 

2)more/fewer/less+명사+than: ‘~보다 많은/적은-’

More orders than last month were received online.

 

-many/much의 비교급: more(수, 양)

-few의 비교급: fewer(수)

-little의 비교급: less(양)/lesser(중요성, 인지도)

-late의 비교급: later(시간)/latter(순서)

 

3)‘the’ 다음에 비교급을 사용하는 경우

 

① The+비교급, the+비교급

① of/among/in+장소/범위/분야

② have/has/had+p.p

③ available/possible

ex)The fastest car available

 

3)‘최상급+명사’ 앞에는 주로 ‘the’ or ‘소유격’이 온다.

Summer Rain was the most interesting movie we saw during the film festival.

Mr. Sanders will sign a contract with his most important client today.

 

4)서수+최상급

The third biggest university in Korea.

 

5)부사 최상급 앞에는 ‘the’를 사용하지 않는다.

I repaired the car most expensively.
