16. Graphing calculators 그래프 계산기는 / feature 가지고 있다 / a host of functions 다수의 기능을 / not the least of which 그 중에 가장 중요하지 않다고 말할 수 없는 것은 (즉, 중요하다고 할 수 있는 것은) / is the ability 능력이다 / to visually display 시각적으로 보여주는 / formulas on a grid. 격자무늬 위에 공식을 보여주는~!
not the least of which는 복수명사 뒤에 와서 그 복수명사의 특정 요소에 중점을 두고 싶을 때 사용해요~ㅎㅎㅎ 사실 그냥 Graphing calculators feature a host of functions, which include the ability to ~이렇게 해도 말은 되죠. 근데 이 경우에는 그냥 여러 기능들이 있는데 그 기능 중에 하나로 이런 기능이 있다는 뉘앙스인거구요~ not the least of which is를 사용하면 그 중에서도 중요하다고 할 수 있는 기능은 이거다~ 이런 뉘앙스가 되는거죠ㅎㅎ | ||

19. (a) There has been speculation that that이하와 같은 추측이 있어왔따 / if a disaster were to occur 만약에 재앙이 일어난다면 / that wipes out the human population 인류를 몰살시키는 (재앙이 일어난다면) / cockroaches would survive it 바퀴벌레들은 아마 살아남을 것이라는 (추측이 있어왔따)
여기서 that wipe out the human popluation은 disaster를 꾸며주는건데 if a disaster that wipes out the human population were to occur 이렇게 하면 주어가 너무 길어지니까 뒤로 보낸거예요~ | ||

(b)번은 It ~ that 구문이네요~ 여기서 it은 가주어니까 해석하지 마시고 "that이하 하는 것은 ~이다"라고 해석하심 되요ㅎㅎ that이하 부터 살펴보면 that affects 영향을 주는 것은 / how likely it is 얼마나 가능성이 있는지에 (영향을 주는 것은) / that they would endure 그들이 (얼마나) 견뎌낼 (가능성이 있는지에 영향을 주는 것은) It is their ability 그들의 능력이다 / to withstand 이겨내는 / the limited resources and harsh environment 제한된 자원과 혹독한 환경을 (이겨내는 그들의 능력이다) | ||
