The primary reason people want to study English is personal pleasure. There are some examples of personal pleasure.
 First of all, they study English to enjoy entertainment without Korean subtitles. If they learn English, they can listen to music and understand lyrics directly and play video games that are not translated into Korean. This is one of the reason I’m studying English, too. For example, when I was elementary school student, I just studied for my grade. But since I met video games and pop song, I have been studying English to watch movies and games or listen to music. The more my English ability increase, the more I'm immersed in Entertainment. Not only I’m studying English for Entertainment, but there are also many people who study English for that. In addition to Entertainment, They study English to go on trip. If they can speak more fluently, If you can speak more fluently English by studying, you would be much safer and more fun to travel and easier to participate in festivals that you interested in. Finally, They Study English to communicate with foreigner. There are many people who are fond of studying English and interested in make friends or pen-pal and join in a club or a society or social network or some kind of community of interest. Recently, SNS has been took off like a rocket. Thanks to Rocketing of SNS, it is easy to make pen-pal or join in a community or club that one interested in and find no difficulty with finding World topic or News. 
 Since early times, Korean have been being requried to learn English, so there are many reasons to study English. I thought   one of the biggest reason people study English is in order to satisfy their personal pleasure. this is also why learing foreign language is fun.
