My name is Jisu Kim. Im 20 years old. I live in a single room in the campus dorm. I’m currently a junior majoring in nursing. I chose this major because Ive always wanted to work in a hospital and help people.
(I first learned the basics of medicine, including physiology and cytology,
before diving into detailed nursing studies)
I find my classes to be challenging but interesting.
My hobbies these days include listening to music and reading romance fantasy novels. I enjoy these activites because they help me relax and unwind.
As for my personality, I tend to be a bit introverted. so usually prefer calm activities over more energetic ones.
someday I hope to work for a big hospital in the U.S. and be recognized for what I do. Im studying nursing and english hard to make my dream a reality.

My best friend‘s name is soo min lim. We met in a class during our first year of middle school. Since then, we’ve been togetherspent for six years together, all the way through high-school. Now, she’s an undergraduate student at Daegu university.
Regarding her appearance, shes got brown eyes and black hair. She was chubby all throughout school, but she recently went on a diet and got super slim! As for her personality, shes very outgoing. Also, she has lots of friends. Shes really good at sports and she loves them too. She works out every day and she is especially good at volleyball.
What I like the most about her is her active nature. She and I have opposite personalities. So when I feelIm feeling down, her active nature really helps lift my mood. Im very grateful for that.

The place where I live is a single room in the school dorm. I used to have a roommate when I was a freshman, but I chose a single because it’s more suited to my personality. The only downside to my room is that there’s no bathroom, shower, or kitchen – those are outside. My room has a lofted bed with a desk underneath it, and there are three storage units. The dorm is really convenient because it’s so close to the classrooms. Having friends living nearby is both a plus and a minus. This room is the first space I’ve ever had all to myself, and it’s filled with things that are just mine. Right now, my room is totally pink, and I love it.

I no longer live in the area where I grew up, but I visit sometimes when I go to see my parents. Not much has changed in the neighborhood. The school, the shops, and most things are still the same.

I’ve been into pop music since I was a kid. As you know, K-pop is super popular, and my parents loveloved it too, so I grew up listening to it. When I was little, I used to sing along to famous songs, but as I got older, I started looking for songs with melodies and lyrics that I personally liked. In school, my friends and I would watch music videos on TV during breaks and enjoy the music together. These days, my favorite song is Rosé’s ‘Toxic Till the End,’ and my all-time favorite artist is Plave, a virtual group.
Plave is my favorite virtual idol. I’ve became a fan last summer, and I was totally drawn to their music and visuals. They’re real people using virtual gear to perform behind a screen. Also you can actually chat with them and enjoy their concerts!! About a month ago, I bought some itemsmerch like a blanket, a cup, postcards, and pens.

The problem I deal with at home is bugs. They show up at unexpected times and in unexpected places.—on the walls, ceilings, and even the curtains. I’m always on guard, watching every corner. Mostly, bugs with lots of legs, like house centipedes, appear often, and I can’t even stand to look at them. The first time I saw one, I got burned on my hand on the rice cooker while trying to catch it. But now, I’m pretty good at handling them—I just spray them with bug spray, sweep them offup with a broom, and toss through them out of the window. Living with bugs is terrifying, so even the slightest strange sound in my room keeps me awake, searching for the source.

A problem I had while traveling was that someone paid for mewhile when I was in Singapore. I’ve loved traveling abroad since I was young, so during the summer vacation of my first year of middle school, I went on a solo trip to Singapore. I stayed with a host family and made some friends. while I was out having fun outside, I bought a few candies at a convenience store. They were lemonade-flavored, something we wouldn’t find don’t have in Korea, and I really liked them. Anyway, when I tried to pay for the candies with the change I had left, the cashier kept refusing one coin. I didn’t understand what he was saying, so I just kept saying, ‘Why? This is 5 cents.’ Then, a kind adult standing behind me in line ended up paying for my candies. All I could say at the time was ‘Thank you so much,’ but that moment has stayed with me. It left me with a warm memory, and it’s made me want to live in a way that’s considerate and kind towards others.

A The problem I had while shopping was that trying to save money. Last month, I spent 70,000 won on merch from my favorite idol group, Plave. Then, when I went to Hongdae, there were so many things I wanted to buy. Power banks, slippers, cosmetics, keychains—there were so many items that I really liked that day. But I’ve been trying to save money lately, and since I had already spent 70,000 won that day, I knew I needed to hold back. The thing I wanted most was the slippers because I really needed them. But I resisted and told myself, ‘If I’m going to buy something, I should’ve bought the slippers earlier.’ I managed to resist all the temptations, and this trick really helped me hold back from buying unnecessary stuff. From now on, I’ll keep using this method to only buy what I truly need.

One of the issues our neighborhood/school is currently facing is that the construction of a new hospital. There’s already a hospital next to our school, but they’re building a new building behind the dormitory. The construction is expected to take about two years, and it will provide a larger and more convenient healthcare environment. However, the noise and dust from the construction site have madeare frustrating for students, medical staff and patients feel frustrated. Since I live in the dorm, I hear the noise even more. Sometimes, it wakes me up early in the morning. To address the issue, I think efforts like putting up sound barriers or adjusting the construction timeline are needed.

I attend Yonsei University’s Mirae Campus. It is located in Wonju. Since I’m a nursing student, I only spend my first year at Mirae Campus, and after that, I move to the Ilsan Campus.
Right now, I’m at the Ilsan Campus. It’s got a big hospital and a market right out front, so it’s always crowded. There are plenty of places to eat, and transportation is really convenient. But the downside is the campus facilities. Since it’s a small campus with only the medical and nursing schools, the library, gym, and park are pretty outdated and cramped.
On the other hand, Mirae Campus is located on the outskirts of Wonju.
Even though both campuses are in Wonju, they’re totally different from each other. What I love the most about Mirae Campus is how many beautiful parks and walking trails it has. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom. In summer, beautiful flowers bloom. In fall, ginkgo trees turn golden. And in winter, the snow makes everything look magical.
I hope they can make the most of their strengths and weaknesses to become even better campuses overall!

I don’t remember anything super special, but I’ll try to recall my first memory.Just give me a moment.
I started university in 2023. At that time, COVID 19 was still around, so everyone was wearing masks. As I attended the orientation for several general courses, I was excited and thrilled. Then, I went to my first major class. There were a lot of unfamiliar faces. I’m pretty introverted, so I barely managed to greet the person sitting next to me, but they smiled and greeted me back. After that, slowly but surely, I made friends with my classmates, and now I’m living happily with some great friends.

My dorm is about a 5-minute walk from the classrooms. So, I usually wake up 30 minutes before class, and I usually get ready, and leave my room 10 minutes before class starts. After class, I usually relax in my room until the next one. Since the classrooms and dorm are so close, I can always come back to the dorm to take a break. After all my classes are done for the day, I come back to the dorm to review or do assignments. There’s a lot of work, so if I don’t study every day, I won’t be able to do well on the exams.

I like Professor Choi the most. She teaches pediatric nursing and has short bobbed hair. As for her personality, she’s very strict but also warm-hearted, and all the students like her. She’s an amazing teacher and originally a nurse from the U.S. She always says that nurses need to make their own judgments. This really inspires me because my dream is to be a nurse in the U.S. too. When she’s doing her work, she’s truly impressive. I want to be a nurse like her someday—strict but warm—and become a skilled nurse recognized in the U.S.

Im taking I took 8 classes this past semester, and I’d like to talk about the two that left the biggest impression on me. These two courses are Adult Nursing and Data Programming. In the nursing program, all the courses except for the first year are fixed, so I couldn’t choose my classes. First, let me talk about Adult Nursing. It was the first class where I learned more advanced nursing knowledge since coming into the nursing program. I had to apply what I had learned in medical knowledge up until then, and it was tough. The content of the course was difficult, and there was a lot to study. The second one was Data Programming. If I had a choice, I definitely wouldn’t have taken it. In this class, we learned how to write code to create graphs and programs. I’m not good with even basic technology, so every week felt like a struggle for me. There were weekly assignments, so I always stayed about an hour after the class ended. Adult Nursing was hard, but it was fun. However, Data Programming was both difficult and exhausting.

The most difficult test I have ever taken was the Adult Nursing exam this semester. It was the first class where I learned more advanced nursing knowledge since starting the nursing program, and I had to apply everything I had learned in medical knowledge up until then. The sheer amount of material the exam covered made the test difficult enough. I studied and reviewed every day, but I still couldn’t keep up with the volume. Because there was so much, I couldn’t fully understand everything before moving on. I was often worried I might even fail. I prepared as best as I could for the final exam, but I ended up getting a C. Although I didn’t fail, it was a score that was a bit hard to swallow, and I felt disappointed. So, I decided to review nursing again over the break. Next semester, I’ll study harder and try a different approach.

I’m currently majoring in nursing. I chose this major because Ive always want wanted to work in a hospital and help people.
I started by learning the basics of medicine, like physiology and cytology,
before diving into detailed nursing studies.
I find my classes to be challenging but interesting. Learning the necessary knowledge through both theory and practice really suits my abilities and interests.
Someday I hope to work for a big hospital in the U.S. and be recognized for what I do. One of my items on my bucket list is to participate in overseas medical volunteer work. After gaining enough experience as a nurse, I want to provide medical care and nursing to those in need.
Im studying nursing and English hard to make my dream a reality.

The class I enjoyed the most was the Chapel class. Our school is a Christian university, so taking this class is mandatory. In this class, we not only studied Christianity, but we also shared various life experiences. The guest speakers were diverse—including artists, singers, famous professors, people with disabilities, and pastors. Most of the time, the speakers shared their life stories and insights about Christianity, and sometimes we even got to hear music or watch performances.
The lecture that left the biggest impression on me was given by a person who is deafblind. They shared their life story as a deafblind person in sign language. It was moving to listen to them talk about their life, quietly repeating the same hand gestures hundreds of times. I couldn’t even imagine how difficult it must have been to reach this point in their life. That lecture made me reflect deeply on my own life. Although I didn’t take this class voluntarily, it turned out to be a life lesson that went beyond just religion for me.
