Knowing how much effort it takes for one to speak his/her target langauge and get better at it

is a crucial factor that can decide whether his/her language teacher is good or not. Say you

have been married with your babies and now you know how hard it is to raise them as their

mother, father, or one of those parents. Sometimes you can feel good, happy, or sad with your 

babies growing up.

But can single men and women ever know how hard, happy and said it is for parents who have

kids to raise them? I don't think so. They have never diapered, they have never looked after the

kids, they have never spent all day or most of their time thinking about what their kids are

wearing, what they are eating, and where their careers are going. Even though they have done

that before with kids that they are related to, there would in the end be nobody who can do more

than the people who have their own kids do. 

I believe that is significantly relevant to who is your language teacher when you are taught to

learn English. Most 교포/foreigner teachers are very fluent in English, in most 교포 teachers'

case, it will be both English and Korean but the point is they at least are fluent in the language

English that is your target language you are trying to get better at. As a Korean teacher who can

teach both lanauges, I seriously doubt whether most 교포/foreigner teachers know the fact that

it is hard for their students who learn English to get better at it better than Korean teachers who

teach English do because they have never studied English before but have acquired it.

They have never experienced learning the language English like unmarried men and women

would never directly feel that is is hard to raise kids. 

For instance, when a student of theirs asks "teacher I'd like to include this 'as~as phrase' in

this, I don't even know if I have even used it right, please listen to this", and the student says

"who spends so much time with you is also important as well as yourself". If the teacher just tell

s the student it will be more correct, you say "people you spend time with are as important as

you are", if the teacher tells that, the teacher is just a teacher who teaches English and I believe

that the teacher could answer more with things like grammar rules or something but by contras

t, a good teacher tends to try to know why the idea of "as~as" came into the student's head

and what makes the sentence that the student has written start with "who~" and then the teacher

can explain more about it to the student communicating in Korean being in the student's

shoes, which is the teacher's strong point for the student but I think a bad teacher never does

that or can't. So even though a good teacher's English is not better than a bad teacher's, the

good teacher keeps knowing difficulties that the student faces encouraging the student to

practice the language explaining more, motivating and showing the teacher also has been

dealing with some of those difficulties, which they all are supposed to do because they both did

not grow up in a nation where the first langauge is English. So they both feel motivated giving

the student some positive energy.

I am not here today to tell you that a bad teacher is a 교포 teacher or a foreigner teacher.

But I am here today to tell you that there is a certain amount of advantage when you learn

English from someone's mother tongue is the same as yours. A Korean teacher who teaches

English can help a student who learns English better assuming that the teacher has had

experience birthing kids, rasing them, and loving them more than anyone else does. I have had

expeience studying English reading, listenning, writting, and speaking more than years.
