In my opinion, having knowledge in products is the most important characteristic of X representative. I have two main reasons.

Firstly, there are more competitions these days in terms of customer services than it used to be. To be specific, people nowadays generally think that the wealth of information should be available, so the customer agent who has an extensive knowledge about the products can work efficiently, and it actually influences the company as a whole, because the customers would be satisfied with the products.

Well, the problem solving skill seems less important for service representatives, because all they need to do is to follow the manuals, they can’t make their own decisions when dealing with the customers.

Plus, being polite is also a weak measure, because the customer is making a call to get some supports, so the service should primarily be focused on giving professional information.

Therefore, when it comes to customer service, a knowledgeable customer agent is the key to the service quality.
