Lee Joon Earned Himself an Acting-idol Title
After releasing their 6th mini album, “BROKEN,” at the end of March this year, MBLAQ wrapped up their promotion of the album after three short weeks. For those fans missing the group’s members, Lee Joon of MBLAQ quickly returned to the spotlight, but this time he’s back as an actor.
Fans can watch Lee Joon in tvN’s Friday and Saturday TV series “Gap Dong.” “Gap Dong” is a detective thriller, starring Lee Joon, Yoon Sang-hyun and other famous stars. About 20 years ago, there were a series of brutal killings committed by an unknown person who the police called, “Gap Dong.” In the show, the Gap Dong case has expired but remains unsolved and events, which resemble the case, continue to occur. The drama unfolds its story through five people who are connected to Gap Dong in some way.
Lee Joon depicts a genius barista, Tae-oh who is an extraordinarily smart psychopath with an IQ over 150. Tae-oh can put an innocent smile behind which he hides eerie laughter. And he admires Gap Dong and even seeks an opportunity to outshine him. Lee Joon has surprised fans because unlike other idol-turned-actor stars who prefer to be good guys, he wasn’t afraid to challenge himself and play a bad guy. We don’t know who the real Gap Dong is but it gets more and more interesting as the drama unties the tangled threads with each episode.
As soon as the TV series ends, Lee Joon is scheduled to star in an animation movie, “Seoul Station” that’s been slated for release next year. Along with Ryu Seung-ryong and Shim Eun-kyung, Lee Joon will share his voice. “Seoul Station” explores a post-apocalyptic Seoul as experienced by a homeless man living in Seoul Station. Lee Joon will play a boyfriend who goes into finding his missing girlfriend in dangerous Seoul.
Fans will have to wait a while before all five members perform on stage together again.
